Advances in technology have now made it easier and convenient for just about anyone to take good quality pictures using digital photography.

The methods used in Digital photography:

Digital photography is almost similar to that of traditional photography in terms of technique. One needs to figure out or conceptualize the picture you plan to photograph and consider the effective use of lighting to get the desired effect . As in regular or traditional photography, all these must also be taken into consideration with digital photography. Other than these basics, one needs to also pay special attention to digital effects, the white balance and finally, picture resolution. One can select from VGA mode to as high as nine Megapixels. Depending on your equipment, you can even go higher than that.

Let’s discuss each aspect separately below:

White Balance:When it comes to traditional camera settings, usually it is the film that plays an important role. When you capture an image utilising a traditional camera, the film captures the colour from the natural scene. This is not the case with digital cameras as there is no film involved. In the case of digital cameras, people have to adjust the white balance in order to capture the colours in their natural state. Digital cameras come with preset settings for white balance; one can manually select the shapes from indoor light, shade, clouds and sun. If you are new to the field of digital photography, then the best option is to select the automatic light exposure settings. The camera automatically selects the light balance according to room environment. Histogram can also help to adjust the light within two absolute values.

Resolution:In the manner by which height can be measured in terms of centimetres and so on, image resolution are measured in terms of mega pixels. When you shift the image to the computer and open it in the image editing software you can see that each image is made up of tiny dots. The greater the number of dots per inch, the more clear and sharp the image. It is also believed that the greater the resolution of the image the greater will be the size and the more it will occupy memory space.

The lowest image resolution in the camera is the VGA mode. One needs to check the resolution settings of the camera before taking the pictures. Usually, the range a camera can offer you when it comes to digital photography is from 0.1 megapixels to nine megapixels. The highest resolution images are stored in the extensions like TIFF, RAW and many others. The format varies with the brand of digital camera you own.

Resolution is an important point that should be taken into consideration. You do not always need high-resolution images. It usually works for the professionals because an image with a high resolution is easy to work with when using image software. For people who just want to capture memories, a moderate resolution setting will do. An advantage of a moderate resolution setting allows you to capture more images while occupying lesser space.

Digital Effects:

The best thing about the digital cameras is that they are very handy when it comes to using digital effects. Just select the effect and take the pictures, or one can add the effects to pictures already taken. It all depends upon the person who is taking the pictures. One can crop the images and edit the red eye as well without having to edit them using image software or programs.
