Lesson from Europe for a Better Future Reform

‘The Real Lesson from Europe’ written by Paul Krugman is certainly popular these days. There are some of the very important questions raised by this publication which compel us to view the right picture of the contemporary Europe. All the major countries of the European Union are now on a single platform of accountability.

The malnutrition stats in the public hospitals of the Britain resulted in the deaths of 239 patients in the year 2007. The interesting thing about it is that such miseries are happening when the National Health Service of UK is receiving twice the actual fund from the last one decade. Is it happening due to the mismanagement of the budget or due to the presence of corrupt authorities in some of the layers that are not allowing the adequate fund to reach the people who are in desperate need of it? It is also possible that it will fuel up the debate on the roots to which the corruption is spread inside this major power of Europe.

The recent riots that happen in London and other major cities of England also raise questions related to the efficiency of the law enforcement agencies in the country. From the year 2002 to 2008, the rate of severe crimes raise up to 15% and 38% in France and Italy respectively. No one can associate them with the terrorist activities that are prevailing in various parts of the world these days. But it is the fury of the local citizens for the government, social customs and various relative aspects. The educational reforms, unemployment hike (Spain tops with 45.8%), and improper social relationships due to the presence of nuclear families are some of the factors that are contributing to the disruption of social order. But the lack of quick concern from the side of the law enforcement agencies is still beyond the scope of understanding.

If we throw some light on the current scenario in different parts of Europe then it will be quite clear that the dissatisfaction is not confined to one area itself. There are university students, labor unions, farmers and even pensioners dissatisfied with the time to time amendments and lack of positive concerns from the side of the political groups. Some of the major leaders like Angela Markel and Nicolas Sarkozy are good in brining and operating the tax regulatory but not in bringing up any kind of reform. People want reform but it feasible to attain the same under such demography?

If we take into account the populations in these places then the older people easily dominate the stats. This segment of the population always resist the reformation and try to retain the best out of their investments done via the service taxes. It is now on the shoulders of the young people of Europe to act different than how their predecessors did and focus on the growth and development of the continent in whole.

Conclusion:

Regular reforms and new ideas of growth are necessary to be in existence from time to time. The United States has already achieved a superior position than EU and now the Asian giants are ready to surpass them. It is not important to bring in life the ideology of “Europeanism”and give preference to the growth and development, side by side to welfare.
